April is Stress Awareness Month — but you’re probably already aware
April is Stress Awareness Month.
And if you’re being honest…
you don’t need a reminder.
You already know you’re stressed.
You feel it:
in your shoulders
in your sleep
in your digestion
in how short your patience has gotten
So no — awareness isn’t the problem.
The problem is that no one really teaches you what to do with it.
Stress isn’t just in your head
Stress isn’t just mental.
It lives in your body.
It shows up as:
tension you can’t seem to stretch out
bloating or weird digestion
feeling wired but exhausted
hormones feeling all over the place
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this time of year (spring/Wood season) is all about movement and growth.
But when you’re stressed?
That movement gets stuck.
And when things are stuck, your body starts getting loud about it.
Why acupuncture actually helps
This is where acupuncture comes in.
Not in a vague “it relaxes you” kind of way —
but in a very real, nervous system level way.
It helps your body shift out of that constant fight-or-flight mode
and back into a state where it can actually rest, digest, and repair.
It’s one of the few tools that works directly with the body
instead of trying to talk you out of how you feel.
The World Health Organization even recognizes acupuncture as supportive for mental and emotional health — including stress and anxiety.
But honestly, I don’t need research to believe it.
I see it every day.
People come in holding everything together (just barely)…
and leave feeling like they can finally exhale.
My favorite tools for stress (and why it’s not just one thing)
Acupuncture is a big one for me.
But it’s not the only thing.
I also use and recommend:
simple nervous system tools (not complicated routines)
breathwork
herbal support and flower essences
nutrition that keeps your blood sugar stable
hormonal support when indicated
actually getting back into your body instead of living in your head
Because stress isn’t one-dimensional.
So the support shouldn’t be either.
If you’re ready for deeper work — Internal Dragon
I also offer a specific acupuncture protocol called Internal Dragon.
This is for when you know there’s something deeper going on.
It’s designed for:
trauma
PTSD
feeling stuck or disconnected
big life transitions
It’s a series of 3 treatments in one week
and it can be… honestly, pretty powerful.
Sometimes emotional.
Sometimes clarifying.
Sometimes the thing that finally shifts something that’s been stuck for a long time.
Stress Awareness Month is actually a really good time to start this kind of work.
This is your reminder
If you’ve been stuck in stress, burnout, or just feeling off…
you’re not broken.
Your body is doing exactly what it learned to do.
The goal isn’t to force it to change.
It’s to support it so it can.
If you’re local
I offer acupuncture in York and Lincoln, Nebraska.
And working with stress, nervous system regulation, and mental/emotional health is honestly one of my favorite parts of this work.
If you’ve been thinking about trying acupuncture — this is your sign.
Ready when you are
You can book here
or reach out if you have questions — I’m always happy to talk things through.
